Description
Guest Speaker:
David Dean, President, Australian Vietnam Chamber of Commerce (SA) Inc
Over the past few years there has been a significant shift in consumer purchasing patterns
by the ever growing middle class. A move away from “wet” markets to supermarkets and
the reduction in working time (most middle class no longer work Saturdays) has resulted
in more leisure time to spend with families and friends. International cuisine is becoming
popular and along with this a re-discovery of wine. Australia is well placed to take
advantage of this growing market but our competitive advantage is under threat. USA,
Taiwan, Korea, Chile and New Zealand (wine) are making big in roads so if we want to be
players we need to be there – now. The South Australian government is about to open an
office in HCMC and the timing couldn’t be better or more crucial.
David Dean has twenty years hands on experience in bringing wines to market in
Australia, Europe, North America, Singapore, Japan and China, and most recently, the
emerging markets for Australian wines in Vietnam, Korea and India.
